About We Believe
We Believe... A Journey into Christ Consciousness
By Roy E. Bourque
"We Believe..." is a followup to my first book "The Merging to Two Worlds". It is more focused on the development and teachings of the Judea-Christian tradition, which makes it an easier read than the first book. The first book covered a lot more material.
I was raised a Roman Catholic and told that I was a Christian. This belief persisted until I was taught evolution, leaving me with two versions of creation to consider. At the age of nine, I had a profound experience while meditating on God, at which time I found myself an agnostic.
Eleven years later while studying atomic physics in the navy's nuclear power program, I could directly relate my spiritual experience to scientific teachings. Another six months and I was on the verge of becoming an atheist when I had another profound experience that showed me science was only half the story. The other half was based on religion, but religion made no sense to me at the time, so I remained an agnostic.
Throughout my life, a number of spiritual experiences were shedding light on what religion was originally based on. They would lead me to research material that would fill in the voids to my understanding. A metamorphosis of ideas was taking place as I learned new information. It allowed me to integrate my scientific teaching to religious studies so that they now coincided and made sense.
This book attempts to show how Christianity survived despite the challenges it faced at the outset. It attempts to show how important the teachings are to establishing a civilized society. It attempts to explain that the spiritual experiences I have had are from the same Holy Spirit that Jesus promised to his disciples.
Without spiritual experience, religious beliefs are scattered and fragmented, leaving them open to countless and often erroneous interpretations, hence why there are so many differing religions and so many variations to those religions. Spiritual experience helps us see through the misconceptions that cloud our understanding. That is what my journey into Christ consciousness revealed to me, and what I now pass on to you.
